Titan America has a full-time opportunity for a Construction Manager in Roanoke, VA

The successful Construction Manager (CM) must be detail-oriented, thorough, and organized. In this position the CM will manage large, complex industrial projects while overseeing financial budgets, coordinating contractors, and managing the construction process. The CM will also oversee the construction project schedule and will be ordering and managing materials to manage and support the execution teams. The CM will also provide support during the bidding phase, and he will also be required to assist with vetting contractors’ bids and proposals. The PM is ultimately responsible for understanding and accomplishing the project’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction project scope of works with Project manager and project team.
  • Evaluate constructability of the plans
  • Compile cost estimates and plan construction activities.
  • Establish strategy with Project Manager up front on preferred contracting model establish RFQs for Contractors to bid, review/analyze bids, provide recommendations to PM, support PM with Contract negotiations & Contract establishment.
  • In coordination and guidance from the Project manager and the engineer assigned to the project.
  • Ensure that all construction activities are completed by the contractors on time and within budget.
  • Oversee and supervise construction project progress and provide reports on timeline, progress, and adjustments.
  • Supervise all erection activities and assure compliance with all contract documents and completion of punch list items.
  • Ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, city guidelines, and local and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure with coordination with the local safety manager that everyone involved with the project activities adhere to the Site Safety Requirements.
  • Order and manage materials and equipment provided by the company.
  • Documenting on proper check-out, cold commissioning, and start-up to confirm equipment is installed & started up as per OEM recommendations.
  • Securing the Warranty obligations for the Owner and confirming the various OEMs and Contractors are following their Warranty obligations through appropriate documentation.
  • Documenting the Hot Commissioning, Performance and Performance Testing with appropriate documentation to either confirm Performance Guarantees achieved or documented shortfalls with obligations of the responsible parties.
  • Guidance to PM and team engineers for payments to various Vendors On-Site.
  • Plan for OEM On-Site advisor, scheduling, and management while they are on-site.
  • Establish with the contractor(s) on site organization and lines of authority to carry-out the plans of the project.
  • Ensure that the contactor(s) maintain a strong on-site record keeping system. Records shall include daily logs, progress schedules, man-power breakdown, material quantities etc.
  • Coordinate with the contractor(s) all necessary inspections and all testing as required either by plans or by local or federal codes.
  • Send and receive transmittals to/from contractors and keep them in electronic files.
  • Securing as-builts from the responsible Parties and feeding that back to the Project Manager

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, engineering, architecture, or related field from an accredited university
  • 5-10 years of proven experience supervising and leading Industrial projects. Experience working with one or more of the following construction types: preferably cement, or power, or metals.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Microsoft Project

Preferred Experience

  • Working knowledge with Autodesk Engineering Products, BIM, Navisworks, Revit, Plant3D, AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with SAP for monitoring purposes
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations
  • Familiarity with cement related equipment and infrastructure
  • Safety training on construction activities
